Summary

Although Eating Disorders are a mental health diagnosis, they present to health care professionals for treatment due to many medical complications. Anxiety, depression, and/or trauma are co-morbid conditions that underlie an Eating Disorder and often can mask the symptoms of an Eating Disorder in an individual. As social workers, it is important to be able to recognize, assess, treat and provide resources for an Eating Disorder.
