Clinical Social Work, Disenfranchised Grief, Grief, Social Work, Therapy
While not a new concept, disenfranchised grief is rarely included in the assessment and treatment of clients who are grieving from death-related and non-death related losses. Disenfranchised grief occurs across the lifespan, and can be a significant barrier for many people in seeking help and in receiving appropriate care. This presentation will provide assessment techniques, therapeutic information and opportunity for discussion around this very personal, and often silent, grief.
