2017 HIPAA Privacy Rule and the TEXAS Social Worker

This is Part Two of an optional two-part bundle. This is one of two options for Part Two. This option is specific to Texas Social Workers.

This is a comprehensive course for Texas Social Workers that includes both the HIPAA Privacy Rule and Texas privacy law. The HIPAA Privacy Rule that pertains to all patient health information in any form and sets forth the allowable communications of that information, whether verbal, written or electronic. Texas has additional regulations that pertain to patient health information. This course provides the required basic knowledge of the HIPAA Privacy Rule, and Texas privacy law, for healthcare personnel with a focus on social workers. It addresses key topics including cyber risks, data breaches, overview of the laws, risk reduction, compliance efforts and why patient information policies and procedures must be understood and followed by the entire workforce at every healthcare organization.
